Of the seven types causes of hepatitis, which cause most health problems are hepatitis B virus and hepatitis C virus. Why? Since both viruses are able to survive and persist in the body, chronic and potentially the next trip is slowly damage the liver, the liver eventually becomes damaged, shrink, and harden, or end up as liver cancer.

Transmission of Hepatitis B Virus

In the body of patients with hepatitis B, hepatitis virus in the blood and body fluids, such as semen, saliva and breast milk. According to the mode of transmission, the spread of this virus occurs in three ways, namely 1) transmission from mother to infant, 2) sexual intercourse, and 3) through the skin. The third is based on the pattern of transmission, it is understood that individuals who are in a particular environment or have a particular habit, or are suffering from certain diseases are at risk of contracting hepatitis B. They are:

- Babies born to mothers with positive HBsAg
- Those living in endemic areas of hepatitis B
- Individuals who frequently change sexual partners
- Husband / wife or family members of patients with chronic hepatitis B virus infection
- People who frequently get blood transfusions (hemophilia, aplastic anemia, thalassemia, etc.)
- Patients with renal failure undergoing hemodialysis
- Health care workers (doctors, nurses)
- Narcotic addict

What happens after a Virus Infect the Body?

Once a person infected with this virus, the virus will grow and multiply in the liver. Several weeks to months later, there appeared signs of acute hepatitis B infection. But in fact, The attack of acute hepatitis do not always show symptoms at all. Someone said to suffer from chronic hepatitis infection when HBsAg was detected in more than six months after suffering from hepatitis B is known in advance. Without treatment and monitoring is good, this viral infection that is particularly active can develop into liver cancer or cirrhosis of the liver.

The characteristics of acute hepatitis:
Acute hepatitis is typical (Yellow)
Nearly 1/3 of patients suffering from acute hepatitis marked with a yellow eye. Patients feel the pain right upper abdomen due to enlargement of the liver. The color of urine, such as tea, this is because the level of bilirubin in the blood increases so bilibirubin in waste through urine.
Without Symptoms of Acute Hepatitis
Nearly 2/3 cases of hepatitis B virus infections are asymptomatic or show no symptoms of the disease, although the levels of liver enzymes increased. This condition is generally experienced by children who kekbalan body systems are not perfect. In the group of infants and children are exposed to this virus, which recovered only 5%, while the other 95% develop chronic hepatitis B patients.
Serious Acute hepatitis (fulminant)
Approximately 1% of patients suffering from acute hepatitis, because resistance is so strong immune system, many liver cells are damaged, then there was a fatal acute hepatitis and severe (fulminant).

Treatment

Recovering from hepatitis B virus infection begins with the disappearance of yellow color on the eyes and other complaints, accompanied by a decrease in liver enzyme levels. Healing period of infection is about 2-21 weeks. Patients should take adequate rest and nutrition to optimize the fulfillment of hepatitis B virus infection will get better. In the acute hepatitis B virus infection, antiviral drugs need not be given because the virus usually is lost in the body. Patients are allowed to exercise, but only up to a tired. Avoid alcohol and drugs that can impair liver function. HBsAg should be re-examined six months later. If within six months of HBsAg was negative, the patient has been cured. However, if HBsAg remains positive in the period of 6 months, mean hepatitis B virus infection continues to be chronic.
